A “Helping Hands” glove used in the production of the musical fantasy film Labyrinth. Losing her baby brother to the Goblin King (David Bowie), teenager Sarah Williams (Jennifer Connelly) is transported to a mystical Labyrinth that she must solve if she is to save her brother from being turned into a goblin forever.
Gloves and others like them were used for the sequence in which Sarah goes through the door to find the castle, only to fall down through a chamber of “Helping Hands” that can help her up and down within the tunnel. The long glove is made of cotton which has been dyed green. The glove at one stage had a foam latex skin applied to give it a scaled, gnarled look, however much of the material has decayed and come away over time. Some of the material, however, is still present thoroughly.
In fair condition, the glove is unsized, measuring approximately 62cm (24.5“) in length.
