Two FBI agents, Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) the believer and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) the skeptic, investigate the strange and unexplained while hidden forces work to impede their efforts.
The lamp seen at the desk of the
Fox Mulder's FBI office during the seasons 6 to 9, after the fire at the end of season 5 that totally destroyed the office and was subsequently redecorated.
This is the main lamp used on the
Fox Mulder's desk. Occasionally some dressing pieces were interchanged between episodes, this Lamp did also a brief appearance in the Season 7 Episode 3, "
Hungry". Only two lamps of this style were purchased by the production but each one was unique. The secondary lamp ("B") is slighty
different and is seen in the
Mulder's desk only in some episodes of the Season 6, then was permanently placed at a smaller desk in the office,
near a computer monitor.
After
"The X-Files" ended its nine-year run,
Fox Television did a permanent loan of the original office set to the
Hollywood Entertainment Museum, which was struck from the studio's Century City lot and transported to the Museum, where it was faithfully reconstructed with all of its original set dressing. This lamp along the rest of the set was on display from the end of 2002 till 2006 when the museum closed its doors.
The lamp comes directly from
Chris Carter's - Ten Thirteen Productions and has the original
Fox vault tag. It does match to the Museum photos thanks to what appears some fake blood marks, and on screen thanks to an unique ding on the side of the chromed cap. The original on/off push switch was modified, likely happened at the end of the final season.
