This is one of two paintings made during production of Marc Caro's DANTE 01.
It depicts the space station that gave its name to the film and the shuttle seen in the opening sequence. The painting is roughly 50x70cms, filled with intricate details and superbly executed.
The illustrator who painted it also is the designer of the shuttle and space station. This painting was the main reference for CGI artists in charge of the opening sequence at BUF company. You can see in the screencaps displayed here how close it is to what was finally seen on screen.
The painting is in excellent condition and was directly acquired from the production artist who painted it.
Note : The main image is a scan of the painting, the second one is a photo taken with a camera, this to explain the slight differences in color and contrast between them.
