An original costume design from the Arnold Schwarzenegger classic: Conan The Barbarian (1982). This incredibly detailed hand illustrated piece depicts designer John Bloomfield’s vision for the character Valeria portrayed by Sandahl Bergman. This amazing artwork has been created using a simulating collage of magazine and paper clippings, as well as fabric swatches in silver effect material with little 'dot' sparkles to make an impressively unique image, giving the costume makers some wonderful inspiration when constructing the wardrobe for the movie.
It has been labelled in pencil “Valeria in Conan” and includes several cloth swatches for the costumes accompanied by small notes in pencil, including “John Bloomfield 1981 Madrid”. The reverse of this black card shows a “4” circled in pencil and has plastic tape residue around the edges. A stunning piece of artwork in its own right, the page measures 50cm x 34cm (19.7” x 13.4”) and is in excellent condition.
Accompanying this fantastic piece is a separate A4 white sheet with various words written in Spanish, a large round drawing and some elaborate gold, silver and blue material swatches attached by a small metal pin. The reverse of this sheet displays various movie titles including their lead actors, all hand written in pencil.
