Oscar winner Russell Crowe is Maximus, whom Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris) had picked to succeed him. But Marcus's son Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) snatches the throne, ordering Maximus dead. Instead, he's enslaved and learns to be a skilled fighter. When the Coliseum opens for gladiator games, Maximus finally has the chance for revenge. Ridley Scott directs this vivid epic, winner of the Oscar and Golden Globe for best picture.
These pair of wrist guards were worn on screen by Russell Crowe as "Maximus". This style wrist guard can be seen in the opening shot of the film and again during the Gladiator Games at the Coliseum. This is also the style he wears during his final battle against Commodus. This is an instantly recognizable costume piece from Academy Award winner Russell Crowe. The wrist guards show signs of use with a few broken tips on the detailing, however it is in overall good condition and a fantastic artifact from the film.
The Guards are mounted on an amazing custom display mounted on an inverted coat hanger glued to a Limited Edition Colisseum reproduction "Souvenir of Rome" dated 2000 a.D.!!!
Best of all, Crowe's image can be screenmatched to the extras on the DVD!!
Truly, the finest display ever!
