Matte painting study for the Millenium Falcon hangar in ROTJ done by matte artist Frank Ordaz.
It is a photo from the set with acrylics over acetate. The purpose of this was to try with the light of the hangar( which in my opinion is better in this than in the final matte painting). Also the surroundings of the hangar, like boxes and the landing ramp and legs, are painted, even the antenna of the Falcon.
I attach also a photo of Mr. Ordaz working on the final matte painting.
