A Mos Eisley Cantina Band Member Head and Hands Appliances from George Lucas’s seminal classic, Star Wars: Episode Four – A New Hope. This classic character is seen along with his band mates in the seedy and deadly cantina bar Luke (Mark Hamill) and Obi-Wan (Alec Guinness) travel to looking for a ride off world.
The iconic creatures were created by visual effects master Doug Beswick. Beswick’s intricate, detailed work has been seen in such movies as Star Wars: The Empire Strike Back, Aliens, and the original Terminator.
This alien was created for use in the classic scene from the original Star Wars, in which Beswick himself donned one of the appliances and played along to the iconic John Williams jazz from that scene.
The pieces are made from standard latex, as was the practice at the time. The paint has slightly yellowed with age but still remains in fantastic condition. The head also includes two eye lenses made of darkened plastic.
Due to the age of the pieces, light restoration work has been done to the hands in order to preserve their original appearance. The head however remains untouched and in extraordinary, production used condition. A classic piece from one of science fiction’s greatest.
