A team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
Steatite Ampules, also known as Urns or Vases, were cylindrical enclosures designed by the Engineers to establish and maintain the controlled environment necessary to store Chemical A0-3959X.91 - 15, due to its highly unstable nature at standard room temperature. The exterior surface of a Steatite Ampule was engraved with an informational placard. To create the actual Ampules that would be used on set, the production hired Rob Sollis, a potter who specialises in Raku ware. Sollis and an artist friend spent four months working in a makeshift pottery at Pinewood, crafting around 80 ceramic Ampules with lids and bases in different sizes, varied from 18", 22.5" to 30.5" tall, all with a slight, metallic finish and engraved with "alien text". The ceramic Ampules were placed strategically in the Ampule Room along with hundreds of foam molded Ampules used for the background, since it was not possible to create so many ceramic in the required time. Contrary to the Ampules of foam or the variants made of vinyl and resin (created and cloned by the prop department), each ceramic Ampule crafted by Sollis was an unique piece of art with its own hand drawn hieroglyphics design. This is one of the rare small ceramic Ampules, the same size as David grabs in the Ampule Room and opens aboard the USCSS Prometheus. Inside and over the exterior surface still has remains of the dried goo, indicating the original presence of the vials inside and its additional use, rather than being just a set dressing Ampule. This actual Ampule can be screenmatched in the Bluray's documentaries since down to the small surface details to the unique combination of hand etched hieroglyphs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lw4xPFawJzE https://vimeo.com/71159872 https://vimeo.com/85079666 https://vimeo.com/229510603 https://www.robsollisceramics.co.uk/...ing-production http://www.andrew-woodward.co.uk/pro...heus-urns.html |
