Notre Dame Cathedral Miniature Pieces
 

Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939) Prop Miniatures. A pair of miniature Notre Dame cathedral detail pieces from George Turner's collection; Turner obtained the pieces directly from special effects pioneer and father of compositing Linwood G. Dunn who did Hunchback's opticals. Linwood also composited the RKO logo and did work on King Kong, Citizen Kane and Star Trek.

For Hunchback he used every trick in the book including matte paintings and hanging models. The entire top of the cathedral was a hanging model and they only built the lower portion on set.
