Hello vimeo! + Overlay Play Video + New Submitting Guidelines
 

Hello Vimeo!

We now feature vimeo videos aboard PROPbay.com listings!

When you add a new item to PROPbay.com's database, you now have the choice to add a Vimeo video code to it (and/or a YouTube video code as well). You just need to copy and paste your video CODE (not the full URL) in the required field and our system will do the rest.

Our listings now feature an overlay image when a video code is added to your listings, so visually your visitors will get a quicker idea of where or when was your piece of memorabilia used in the film or production.


You can use the Video code fields to showcase your prop in action, your celebrity wearing it or backstage video footage of that storyboard or clapperboard in the making of the movie, or simply a trailer to the movie.

Please note that vimeo is granted PRIORITY over YouTube if both fields are filled, so if you fill both and someone clicks the PLAY VIDEO overlay icon, they will get the VIMEO video played. To access the YouTube video, users will still be able to click the individual icons to the right of the movie name.

ATTENTION: linking to videos that have nothing to do with the item being listed (for promotional purposes (spam, ads...), jokes or inappropiate content) will not be tolerated and may translate into termination of your account at PROPbay.com


New Submitting Guidelines + Collapse/Expand Button

We also added a collapse/expand button to the ITEM SUBMISSION GUIDELINES table for you to hide them temporarily (or permanently until you clear your browsers' cookies). This allows users already used to submit items to PROPbay.com a faster access to the required information fields.

However we recommend you to expand and re-read them from time to time as we may have included new and useful tips to get the most of your listings at PROPbay.com

We took the oportunity to review the guidelines and suggest a few new tips for you to get the most of your listings, regarding the new video code and google/propbay search results:

• NEW! YouTube Code and vimeo Code refer to the video code you find in a YouTube or Vimeo URL, in the format of
  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXXXXXXXX or http://www.vimeo.com/xxxxxx and it's an optional field for you to showcase your item in action (lights, movement), wardrobe display, movie trailer, whatever you feel it fits nice with your listing! You can use both fields but please note vimeo videos will have priority on the PLAY VIDEO overlay icon that will appear on your video-enabled listings!
• NEW! Refrain from adding the movie or show name to the Item's Name field. Our system is set up to automatically add it based on your Movie choice and hence may affect you negatively on google searches...
• NEW! We also suggest you to add Celebrity Names to your listing descriptions, based on who uses your item, wears your wardrobe or directed/designed that shot or scene! Our system will automatically link them, so you don't have to do anything else, and will help other users locate those items related to their favorite celebrity in a breeze, getting better results from Google searches as well.

And just a final note to thank ALL the new users who just registered and started sharing their collections recently! There have been quite a few, so thank you all for your support!
